Indonesia is the 26th country that has signed such cooperation with JPO. By utilizing the PPH, companies and individual inventors in both countries can acquire patent rights through an accelerated procedure. Both sides also agreed that the JPO will act as a competent International Search Authority (ISA) and International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) for PCT international applications filed with the DGIPR after June 1, 2013. This means that the search results conducted at JPO are available for PCT international applications filed at the patent office of Indonesia.
Through the PPH program, companies and individual inventors can obtain patent right in joining countrires quickly and economically while the patent examiners can also reduce working burdens by utilizing the search results and examination results of other patent offices.
Indonesia is the third partner in ASEAN which has signed the PPH agreement with Japan. Another 2 ASEAN countries which have PPH program with Japan are Singapore and the Philippines. Companies and individual inventors welcome JPO's partnership with other offices.
